Abstract Zig Zags

Hi guys =). While I was in England I got a chance to surf Pinterest one evening (like I don't do this enough even when at home =P). And of course I came across heaps of new ideas for decorating my nails. There were quite a few pictures from this site/blog Pshiiit which is in French. No need for Google Translator because the pictures were enough to show how amazing this girls (Camille) nails were! Ever since then I've been going back through her achieves and omg I love her nail designs. And she keeps them amazingly immaculate. Best of all, she has the best ideas on how to make them look all prettified and all sorts of different ways! As soon as I came across one of her tutorials on this zig-zag sticky tape manicure I had to try it. There are so many other ones I want to try! Not to mention, her photos are really really nice!

I used a no-name dark blue polish I got from Thailand, and layered it with Orly Luxe. Just look at the illustrations on Camille's blog to see how it's done! Relatively easy =). Having said that, I really need to get back into all this nail art stuff - I've gotten rusty! And my nails need serious TLC....

Sunshine Wave

Hi Guys!! I've been so busy this past 2 weeks after getting back from my trip, I have had hardly any time to do anything but get all my uni work ready (yes, back at uni doing a masters haha...obviously I was wrong when I thought I'd never be going back again =P) which has been exciting but extremely full on. So today I have a quick post for you, just a design I did on my nails before I left. I can't remember what the base colour was but the bottle in the pictures looks like NYX Pastel Yellow. I wasn't too impressed with the application, I thought it had a pretty bad consistency =\ ....but I made it look a bit better with the red wave design at the tips =) (that sorta turned out pink in the photos..).

Jamie's Italian, Sydney

Hi guys!! This post is more of a reminiscent one, I didn't have enough time to post it before I left since I only went here a week before taking off. A bunch of friends and I went to Jamie Oliver's new restaurant, Jamie's Italian in the CBD for lunch. We were lucky as we were a group of 8 and the restaurant only takes bookings for groups of 7 or more. I don't know if I'd be patient enough to wait in cue on a busy night....I've heard the cues get quite large with waits of up to 1 or even 2 hours! Hopefully that may have changed since you'd think the hype would have died down by now.

As soon as I stepped into the place I knew it would be somewhere I'd want to come to again and again....the interior is so charmingly rustic and comfy! I loved the use of space - the restaurant was long rather than wide, but it seemed like it went on forever. The mirrors that were placed on the right side of the restaurant obviously made the place seem larger than it actually was, but the mirrors themselves were beautiful so they served as an attraction. The lighting was absolutely PERFECT for photography and I have a feeling this was done on purpose, knowing that many bloggers and foodies would flock to the place and snap away at the delicious dishes.

And don't think that interior is the only reason why I'd go back there!! I absolutely loved the food!! The menu is quite extensive, and I'd say this is a really good place to go if your up for vegetarian. Now, I think people who know my quite well know I have a large aversion to cheese, and you'd think that that would turn me off Italian. Annnnnd quite frankly, I have to admit my stomach sank when the waiter arrived with our food and I saw that everything comes with a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese (duh right =P). I should have anticipated this, because I am an ardent fan of Jamie and I am well aware of his obsession with both olive oil and parmesan cheese, and our perceptions of 'a little sprinkling' are sorta different =P. Anyways, I wasn't gonna be fussy, so I braced myself and took a bite of the mushroom fritti....and I was quite surprised!! It all tasted so good!! I wouldn't go as far as to say I'd order a big plate of spag bol and ask for a massive grating of cheese all over it, but it's still a step forward!!

Entrees - Funky Chips, Bread Selection (with vinegar
and olive oil), Crispy Polenta Chips, Mushroom Fritti

Mains (Clockwise from top left) - Prawn Linguine, Monachelle Putanesca, Cuttlefish Paccheri, Spaghetti Bolognese

Turbo Fusilli Arrabiatta
Enough rambling about cheese, the food as I said, was amazing. Even more so was dessert!! The pictures themselves look drool-worthy....

Chocolate Brownie

How nice does it look!?!
But wait! I have a better picture....

Ohhh emm good!

Overall, we had a lovely time, and i'm ready to go back!! There were so many dishes I wanted to try (as usual =P).

More glitter nails!

My nails looked absolutely appalling while I was overseas. I mean, in between kayaking and swimming and scuba diving who has time to even keep them trimmed. So, as a welcome back to reality gift to myself and my nails, I pimped them up with my fav nail decoration - GLITTER! I know I've done glitter nails before, but I can't help myself. I love glitter too much to not adorn my nails in them more than once =).

This time what I did was put a coat of clear polish on each nail and dip them in this gold glitter I got off eBay. It works really well, and looks mad as if you don't put a top coat on afterwards. However, be prepared to get glitter all over the still looks nice with a top coat. Unfortunately this one didn't last long; one night out and the next day it looked like a few weeks had past since my last manicure =S.

Oh it's good to be back =) xx

I'm Baaaack! =D

Well 'ello there!! I'M BACK! Woohooo! How exciting!! Well not really, the first thing I wanted to do when I got off the plane was get right back on and fly back to London......

Anyways, how has everyone been?! Ahhh I've missed blogging! So many times during my trip, I would find something cool and do something interesting and I'd think "Ooooo I should put that on my blog". But of course, I had little time to do anything but check up facebook and and emails for like 5 minutes here and there. It is nice to be home though =). There's nothing like sleeping in your own bed and eating your mum's home cooked food.

Well, needless to say, I had the time of my life while overseas. I got the chance to do some amazing things both in Thailand and England....experiencing life in a different country and and different culture is so fulfilling and eye-opening. And I met so many amazing people especially in Thailand!! Travelling all on my lonesome was quite an adventure! I had some pretty unforgettable moments, like getting detained at the airport temporarily on the way back due to my grossly overweight luggage. The look of horror on my face as the check-in lady told me I had to get rid of 20kg worth was priceless =P. Or the time we ended up running into the ocean after a particularly crazy night out at a beach bar in Thailand. Such good memories =D.

ALL MY SHOPPING!! It is clear now why I was temporarily detained
...asif I could get rid of any of it right?!? Pffft.

So the first half of my trip was spent in Thailand....I had SUCH an amazing time! I went with one of my good friends, and we joined a group of people in Thailand.  I'm so grateful I got to spend my time in Thailand with such a great bunch of outgoing and friendly people =D. Some of the highlights included snorkeling off the coast of some of Thailand's most beautiful islands on Australia Day (so much fun!!), partying like no tomorrow in the unique (for want of a better word =P) bars on some of the islands, shopping in some of the biggest shopping malls I've ever seen, getting lost in the unbelievably massive Chatuchak market in Bangkok, and spending a few days with some of the hill tribes in Chiang Mai (North Thailand). And the FOOD!!! Oh. My. God. There's nothing better than coming back from a day of trekking and having your local guides prepare the most satisfying authentic Thai food. And street food is a MUST HAVE! Pork skewers oh how I miss you! Let's just say that by the end of the trip my clothes were a bit more snug on me than when I arrived =S. But seriously that's only the tip of the iceberg.....I'd be going on forever if I kept going on about home much fun it was.

Oh so dark!
Having a 'traditional' bucket in Krabi =D

The latter half of my trip was spent in the incredibly beautiful city of London. Seriously, as soon as I got there I knew that this was a place I could live in....definitely my type of place! The atmosphere and vibe of London city was one that I felt right at home in. So many beautiful buildings, old world charm and cute little cafes and shops. Reminds me of Melbourne but 10x more incredible. Some of the highlights from England were travelling on double decker buses (I get amused by the stupidest things eh =P), sitting in Hyde park munching on the BEST cinnamon buns from the Nordic Bakery, driving through the gorgeous countryside in Wales, spending a day in Brighton and visiting the famous pier (and trying their fish and chips!! Some of the best I've had =P), visiting the world famous Harrods building, straddling the meridian line....and of course, the INCREDIBLE SHOPPING!! But, despite all that, I think the best part about England was spending time with my beautiful cousins and aunty and uncle =). I don't think I would have had as much fun without them. I miss them so much =(.

Me having a world famous Brindisa Chorizo Roll at
Borough Market in London...SO YUMMY!

Unpacking had to be the hardest was nice to go through all the things I bought though!! I'd forgotten I bought so much =P. But yea, it was just sad to come back and get back to reality.

Well, that was my trip in a very very verrrrry small nutshell =D. I'm sure I'll be ranting on further in future posts! Hope you've all been well!! xx
